1957
It was over 60 years ago when Abraham Feiner first started to manufacture pads for the jewellery trade.
1957
The original company name Pad Suppliers started trading in 1957 from premises in Greek Street W.1 and it was there that Mr Feiner first conceived the idea of a mass produced machine-made pad. Jewellery pads were up to then made by hand, mainly in velveteen, and orders had to be given weeks and sometimes months in advance.
1962
A "Stockinette fabric", was chosen to take the place of the conventional velveteen. Tools and machines were constructed for the new process of making "Stockinette pads" which at that time were known as "Finer's" pads. Another innovation was to give code numbers to all sizes of pads and as the first tool was for a 2" x 2" pad, it was called P1.
1962
At about the same time, they were also the first to manufacture welded plastic pads, a process which was borrowed from the bag-making trade.

Soon the premises in Greek Street were found to be too small and the company moved to a larger self-contained factory at Hemingford Road N.1. It did not take long when even this factory became too small to meet the demand of their products and they moved to larger premises in Barnsbury Street N.1. With the business expanding very rapidly they were again forced to move, acquiring their present factory in 56 Benwell Road N.7 in 1967, which comprises of 20,000 sqft with their own car park.
1968
In 1968 a sister company "Blockmaster" which manufactures hot-foil blocking machines was formed to produce the right machinery to personalise their packaging. To date it has grown into one of the leading manufacturers of gold blocking machines and accessories.
1968
Blockmaster machines are inherently different from most other blocking machines, because the Company were users before they became manufacturers, and had developed a lot of ideas of their own which they were determined to incorporate into the machines they made. Other machines are referred to as "up and down machines", meaning that the platen rises and falls vertically. This didn't work effectively for them, as it meant that the operator could not see the work clearly or even if the foil was feeding properly.

1990
In the night of the 2nd of August 1990 Pad Suppliers was struck by fate as Dani Feiner was woken up by a phone call in the middle of the night. The companies warehouse was set on fire by unknown. The fire devastated the warehouse and millions of jewellery boxes were destroyed in the fire.
While most family businesses would’ve thrown in the towel in a situation like this, the Feiner family did not give up and raised from the ashes of their burned warehouse and came back stronger then before.
